Let's talk about the elephant in the room before we go into this post...
The price of Hive...Sucks.
It's close to all time lows, and the general feeling around the crypto space is...Well, do they even remember that we exist?
And unless you are Elon Musk or some crypto whale, you aren't going to move the needle when it comes to the markets so....What can we do?
Here's where the fun stuff starts....
And it was summed up perfectly in a Snap I saw yesterday by @curamax :
Focus on the social side. Post more, engage more and concentrate n building the relationships.
This is bang on and something I've been screaming from the mountain tops for years. But than the problems start to appear...
Is this an echo chamber? Who are we engaging with? Is everyone a bot? Are the people here actually invested in the long term potential of Hive?
And that's where @snapie comes in and we're starting to see a platform that gets it when it comes to gamification. This has been a passion of mine for over a decade and I've built some pretty big platforms all on the gamification angle.
So I am loving what I see from Snapie and I wanted to go over some of those highlights. The end goal is to always make this place somewhere you WANT to be, And a community you can't stop talking about.
The addition of Snapie Points has been a pretty successful entry into the idea behind leaderboards.
Let's be honest, people love seeing and hearing their name. And when a platform highlights people that are being active, everyone wins.
The top engagers love being recognized and the people under them in the standings, have a target they want to hit. There's a reason these have been a huge hit in the gaming world forever.
There's so much more to this, and you could dedicate an entire blog post to this alone. But when people can see their progress, and how well they are 'performing' in a community...They start setting personal goals and targets.
Take for example yours truly. I HATE being 'fair' when it comes to my curation score. So my goal right now, is to be better and hit the 'good' tier.
Might seem simple but there are loads of people who love to track their progress daily. This is so big!
This goes right along with your personal stats, and when you see how well you have been doing daily, weekly and then monthly you start to really get excited.
The adrenaline you feel when you crush your previous goals is unmatched! This is like #myhivegoals on steroids!
Some of you 'youngin's' might not remember MySpace but do you know what made the grandfather of social media platforms so special and unique?
You could personal your homepage as you saw fit.
And with the addition of personalized badges inside of Snapie, we could potentially see the creation of some very unique looking profiles on the platform.
If you know my history, you know badges have been a part of my business model since...Foursquare (you may need to Google that...)
Badges can be earned by reaching different levels and unique achievements inside of the platform. As we have seen with Hive Buzz, these can be collected and shown on profile pages for all to see.
But that's just the tip of the icebergs with them. Think NFTs but with actual use case and something you can never buy....
Hidden badges. Secret missions. Quests. Unlocks. Becoming 'friends' or following a hidden account....The potential is endless.
It just can't be, badges for the sake of badges. Once you put some game elements into collecting...The sky's the limit.
Just a few things I've seen being developed on Snapie that I'm very excited about...
Remember, we may not be able to change the price of this token today...But we sure can use the blockchain and develop some unique ways to make it more addicting and engaging that ever before.
