Dear Self,
I am proud of you ~ there.
I'm sorry for holding out on you all these years. For being your harshest critic. I'm sorry.
I am proud of you - you have come a long way to be where you are right now.
I know. I know that you'd disagree and you'll tell me one hundred and one ways how you're "not good enough" or that you are "so far from where you'd want to be at this point in time". And all these mega-expectations have driven you to be so hard on yourself, when in fact you have lots of things you should go celebrate.
You have had lots of victories over the years - small and huge wins. Just because you think these are not leading you to "where you should be" does not mean you don't get to be grateful about them, you know. I know you know that but you are just stubborn and prideful.
Look ~ plain and simple: I am proud of you, of us. You have carried us through the highs and lows and have been resilient ever since. You forgot to give yourself credit where credit it due, and this time, it's you. Remember that time when you gave up and thought there was no way you can get through that Big Trial? But see ~ you made it through, may not be unscathed, but still, you got out. And the series of challenge after challenge and you have managed to get through each, every single time. Every. Single. Time.
Dear self: I am the proudest. Of you. How far you have come. Your strength is a pillar. Your courage, a sword. Your hope, a light. Your love, the brightest star.
The world is a much, much better place with you in it. I love you, self. Continue to rock the world and knock em out their socks.
xoxo,
jong
