Hello and good morning all.
Today I'd like to share my most recent project. An 8ft tall moose sculpture..
I'll share the beginning and the end with a few cuts in between.
Here was the log before I cut it open. It was 9ft tall and roughly 4ft in diameter.
Doesn't look like much...yet..
Starting to take shape...end of day 1
The next day, I was able to cut away most of the excess and open up the negative space. He was still bulky and impossible to move.
The next couple days I thinned him out so I could move him under cover..that thing was heavy.
Needed some help to move him..
Started to make the antlers here..
Attached the first one here...
And then the 2nd..shaping up nicely..
Sanded him down, getting him ready for the torch.
Burned him..
Flapsanded...
Then paint to finish off.
Will get varnish this week then delivered 4 hours away to a very happy customer.
I hope you enjoyed seeing what I saw, if so feel free to upvote and reblog. I love what I do and I'm happy to share here on Peakd. Thank you all for looking and have a wonderful day.
Jon
