Mayor's Cup 2026 Awarding Night: A Proud Moment for Players
My partner is a basketball player, and they recently won the championship game at the Mayor's Cup 2026 held in our town. The sports committee prepared an awards night for all the players and awardees. I asked my partner if I could join him because I wanted to see what awards he would receive.
We went to the event around 7:00 in the evening. It was held in the gymnasium, and bright lights and decorations greeted us. We looked for our assigned table and sat with other players. We waited for the program to start, and I noticed the SK officials arriving with food and drinks. They organized everything on the table.
The program started, and the master of ceremonies led the prayer, followed by the singing of our national anthem and our town's hymn. I asked my partner for a few quick selfies before the awarding ceremony began, since I knew he'd be busy listening to every award announcement later on.
They started the awarding ceremony by giving certifications to the barangays that joined Mayor's Cup 2026, followed by certifications for every team in both volleyball and basketball.
The program continued to the exciting part: the individual awards. My partner is in the Basketball Junior Division, and when it was time for individual awards, I felt nervous and excited.
When they were announcing the "Season's MVP" in their division, I was really praying it was him. When I heard his name called, my heart felt so happy. He deserved the award because he worked hard for it. He went on stage, and I took the chance to take pictures of him as he received his trophy.
After the awarding, I asked one of my partner's friends to take pictures of us. My partner gave me the trophy as we took snaps, and I couldn't hide my smile because I felt proud. He loves playing basketball, and I know he's proud of himself too. I'm just always here to support him all the way.
