It's funny to think that just a few weeks ago Steemit rarely entered our conversations. I was in the thick of wedding season and found it hard to add any more computer screen time to my plate. But now...I've really enjoyed the process.
We drove about 4 hours away for Valentines Day. We chatted about crypto currency, and about other steemians and mostly about @customnature's Abandoned Shit weekly contest. On our drive we had a constant eye out for anything abandoned. I'm surprised at how much Steemit has become a part of our conversations.
I have a fun little gig where I shoot privately owned campsites for Hipcamp. It's been really fun discovering new places to camp and explore. And it's not just camping, there's all kinds of places to stay, from treehouses to yurts to A-frames.
This camp was a good fit for us because it put us in our favorite genre, post-apocalyptic fiction. It was originally built in the 70's and it had the distinct architecture and style. Hardly anyone was there, and we only briefly saw 2 people the first day. The camp itself is not open currently. When nightfall came it seemed strangely abandoned. Signs of life and yet no one around. The 70's feel really added to our imaginations of breaking into an abandoned home during some kind of end of the world scenario. We played scrabble and ate chili and relished the lime green furniture and wood paneling. It was the perfect Valentine's Day.
