I want you near
Because you take me places

And without you here
The hours freeze solid
Into ages;

That plashing
Of your words
That I swore
Got on my nerves,

Is empty
Now at dawn
As the forlorn
Robin on the lawn.

He and I
Are friends
And we both
Have good intent,

But he's pecking at the earth
When he knows
It makes no sense;

Despite all hope gone
He still waits
Upon the lawn,

As I do, so intense
Trying hard to carry on...

Like him seeking worth
Simply pecking out some words.
