And home alone
Writing
In my front room,
Ignoring scratching
Behind walls
And the thought
Someone's immured.
It's insane,
There's no one but us
And we've lived here
Long enough
If a corpse
Were wedged in the walls
It'd surely turn up
By now.
I go back to writing
My poem
Focus on thoughts
Wholesome
But now rapping begins
And fear returns again.
My pup
Is growling low
At the dark
Beyond the door,
And there's nothing
For me to do
But check
For a ghost or two.
I see you
In the door
Lost
With a look forlorn
As I once saw you
Before
In our life
In another world.
You fade
Like rain on wind
Though I know
You'll return again,
As you haunt me
In my dreams
For lovers
We once have been.
