Today I received this t-shirt from Re-Thinking The Dollar (rtd@rtd) -

That's about the expression I would imagine George would have when faced with the reality of what his nation has become.

"The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon." - George Washington

This relates to yesterday's post about Article 1, Section 8, Clause 5.

"The Congress shall have power ... To coin money, regulate the value thereof, and of foreign coin, and fix the standard of weights and measures;"

Since Congress has abandoned this authority to a firm independent of the government, Congress has abandoned the core mandate between the governed and the sovereign. Namely, the right to self determination. So long as the American people's money is denominated by an outside entity Americans will never be free.
