Why is this holiday not in the spring?

Would it be better to count your blessings before they were to be hatched? Is it better to reap before you sow? Is it better to feel entitled for a harvest, which comes in the autumn, than to work hard like ants, like busy beaver bees? Is it better not to reap what you sow? Should we just knock on doors and say "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something unhealthy to eat. If you don't, I'll throw some oatmeal in your face" like we do for Halloween just a month prior to Thanksgiving? Is having Thanksgiving during the fall a blessing or a curse? If I told you that it would be better in the spring, would you fall for that? If you don't stand for anything, you'll fall for anything.
