I make it a habit to visit my parents this time of the year, not my biological parents but love them enough to call them my parents.
I worked for them as a gardener few months after I arrived in South Africa when I found it difficult to get a job.
Marriana being the wife always reminds me how she told her husband; "Joe is not a gardener"
And Hans the husband responded, "give the poor boy a chance"
I laugh every time she shares this story with me, they originally from Germany been in SA for over 50 years. Very lovely couples living just 5 minutes walk away from me...
We chatted and I just couldn't stop laughing at Marriana's chats.
After taking a selfie of us I aks if I can share the picture with her she said,
"no Joe, my antique phone doesn't have such features, these smartphones are going to drive me crazy and get stuck, I prefer working in the garden"
That cracked me up 馃ぃ馃ぃ
Roxy is now 11 years old, I remember those days when he was smaller and would run around the garden...
I always love flowers in hung pots, try stop me from taking photos of them.
The garden is in beautiful shape, I left them with a gardener when I got a job as a Telecommunication technician which they hooked me up back then.
Very good people I've known them for over 10 years they are basically parents to me.
Hans is 89 while the wife Marriana is 84 years.
Make no mistake Marriana is still quite active with good memory in remembering things, she still wishes to go on holiday in Limpopo over 200km drive from Joburg, and I said to her she should drive at a speed between 80-100km/h, she said,
"no Joe I still get speed fines but am not proud of it" 馃槂
Lots of love for this couple, they are an inspiration!
We owe it to ourselves to make Hive great
