White-faced Whistling Duck
Sunbathing in the morning light next to a small body of fresh water, this little duck never moved while I enjoyed sitting duck photography time! Not endangered, these birds flock in numbers up to 70k in West Africa, are noisy apparently, yeah well they whistle, I have not had the pleasure of witnessing either.

Glistening rusty plumage under the white neck, chestnut wing and shoulders, with barred black on white on the flanks, a black bill and blue/black feet, a pretty little duck I have not seen very often.

Flash of colours reflect off their wings, standing together at the Amanzimtoti City Hall verandah sunning themselves like two men of the cloth with the white neck, or perhaps they are dirty old men opening their raincoats for all to peek in... You decide!

Sauntering off to find earth worms, insects, small frogs or lizards they wander down the lawns not afraid of humans walking with their dogs, one wrong move they will be up and off, the joy of confidence in flight.

Mixing together the Woolly-necked Stork (Ciconia episcopus) ambling down the slight gradient stabbing away at the ground with their beaks along with the Hadeda Ibis, another bird showing all the colours of the rainbow in their beautiful feathers.
