Breeding Season
Sweet fragrance wafts around every corner with trees flowering, weakly trilled "ki-ti-ti-ti" call of the brown-hooded kingfisher ( Afrikaans; Bruinkopvisvanger) moving around.
Brown-hooded Kingfisher
This pair visit the garden daily, their burrow nest in sand must be close with them calling each other from the minute the sunrises, preparation for mating season.
Sitting perched on a branch, or this particular day a fresh pod emerging, now he is busy chatting to his female in a tree a few meters away, occasionally dropping down to the ground to pick up an insect to brunch on.
The Areca palm is also known as Butterfly Palm, Cane Palm, Madagascar Palm, Golden Feather Palm, and Yellow Palm - Native to Madagascar
You feel a sense of being watched, serenaded keeping good company dawdling around an early morning garden, life is busy.
While emotional thoughts clutter my head, my brother would be seventy today, (a year ago today he died), how quick time goes never healing, soothing nerves swirling memories, escaping inner turmoil on perfumed air in the gentle morning breeze.
Currently flowering in the garden Orange Jasmin (Murraya Exotica) with berries you can see.
Solace in the garden, ever changing like our feelings nature is on the move, as is life constantly seeking direction, another winter is gone and I'm alive to enjoy another day in a garden with perfume and song.
Yesterday - Today - Tomorrow : Brunfelsia australis now flowering
Thoughts and emotions can consume one, we need to let go and move on to face another day.
Tree I know longer remember the name - Anyone know what this is?
Today is sharing birds and trees, if I could I would send you a smell over on a breeze.
Call of the brown-hooded kingfisher is on loan from You Tube since the road noise is too high to capture my little guy impressing his female in song, all is well in the world once again after a walk around my garden. Well almost....

Funny how premonition creeps into life, years ago I imagined of a car tumbling down from the road, planting some cane palm to secure the area people thought I was crazy....
Lo and behold thirty years later a car ended up in the cane palm, no one injured except pride, slightly bumped up grid after tow truck pulled them from precarious situation they landed up in, with everyone driving away.
VW don't have wings, retorted Brown-hooded kingfisher from the only access point the home! Keep walking, life happens right on your doorstep.
