Happy Weekend my lovely Hive family.
Today I made a polish style dish for dinner.
I made hamburger patties (mielone kotlety) with some mashed potatoes and a salad made out of beets.
I got some ground beef, to which I added some chopped onion, 1 egg, around 6 slices of bread, garlic, some salt and black pepper and mixed it all together.
I formed meat balls which I rolled into a plate filled with bread crumbs and then I flatten the meat balls using a butter knife. I also made some lines across the patties so that they can cook better.
I cooked the hamburger/meat patties on the pan with some avocado oil. I only use olive or avocado oils for all my cooking since canola oil and vegetable oils are terrible for your health.
Meanwhile, I cooked some yellow potatoes with some salt for 20 minutes and once I drained all the water, I added some cream to the potatoes and mashed them.
I use yellow potatoes because I do not need to add any butter to them , just cream, but when I use Russet potatoes, I add butter and cream since the potatoes seem more dry.
I love beet salad and I am so lucky to have Polish Deli really close to my house because I can buy the beet salad already preppred. I don't usually buy already made products in the stores but make my own foods from scratch but this beet salad actually only had few ingredients which were all good and it was in a glass jar, so the only thing I had to add to it was chopped onion and it saved me quite a bit of work and mess trying to cook the beets for hours and making a mess scraping them.
This is one of my absolute favorite salads and it's probably one of the healthiest ones too.
And here we have it. Polish style dish, which my boys love it.
I must say, I am very blessed to be able to know and cook all kinds of international dishes and that my boys really enjoy the Polish, Spanish and Canadian dishes.
