I woke up from a nightmare today where my technology failed me. Having no internet IS a nightmare but add to that being lost while traveling and meeting unhelpful people.
Didn’t I just feng shui the helpful people and travel section of my home? Why have a nightmare? I haven’t had one in a long time. They are interesting events to write about.
I thought my playlist of classical guitar music would send me off to a happy dreamland but it finished off and started playing the news. My concerns over elections, AB5, and society swirled me toward the murky side of my imagination. I dreamed that I was working on the campaign trail of America’s sworn enemy, the elected Commander in Chief, Donald Trump.
I’m not registered as a Democrat or a Republican. My wonderful students and their parents hail from both sides of the aisle attending rallies and protests and are educated on their civic responsibilities. Personally, I think government is slow and not efficient, full of nonsense from hungry programs. Think of your most charismatic yet lazy cousin that is always needing more money. That’s what I think of government.
I don’t share the same fear and disgust of the President that many do nor am I star struck over his celebrity from The Apprentice. I’ve watched a handful of episodes and found them entertaining.
Back to my nightmare...
I dreamt that I was somehow traveling with the President and a group of people and got separated and couldn’t contact anyone because my device was on the fritz. A woman offered to help me and took me home with her but she had terrible internet reception there. I was hoping to contact the hotel where my group was heading but when I told her who I was traveling with, she refused. Her friends then arrived to take her out for the evening. They had working devices and also refused to help me and proceeded to berate me. Before they did that, they told me I should be a gracious guest and wash their cars. Odd. I know.
Anyway, it was a terrible dream seeing people united by hate. I don’t harbor the same emotions as some people I know and frankly, I think President Trump in the White House has been the best disruption. I like it when things get shaken up and call for attention and improvements. People are FINALLY paying attention to governments not only here but around the world. And people are more engaged to be civically active than before. Too many things have passed with people being unaware and distracted by unreality. People used to accept everything and question nothing.
We are just barely starting to ask questions but just barely. There are loads of people who don’t know of Jeffrey Epstein. I understand. Life gets busy and some of us have full plates that it will take a while to wonder about what’s up with all these wars we’re in and is 5g going to make us sick.
But we will never learn anything and get answers if we unite in hate. While people are hating on the president, I’m wondering what the scientists and doctors think of coronavirus. I wonder if 2020 is the year the arts die because of legislation over AB5 destroying the gig industry. Festivals and indie concerts are being cancelled. You will not see Santas or Christmas carolers this year. Community theatres will close their doors.
And it seems this reality is missing everyone.
I woke up sad from my nightmare. I’m not a fan of government but I do vote. I love my country and the possibilities it’s people bring. I hope to see less hate and more questioning.
We, the people, are the real heartbeat of our country. Stop feeding and fawning over slow hungry Cousin Itt and maybe ask questions.
I hope to dream better tonight.
