The morning I took these photos was truly a deep immersion into introspection and abstraction. Outwardly, and in plain sight, I was the same old guy, walking the streets, taking pictures, greeting people, commenting on things, but that's almost always a facade, a role I play, a way of manifesting myself there on the street and temporarily becoming an active part of my surroundings. But inwardly, and this is something that grows stronger with age, my perception was one of "witnessing" and observing everything with astonishing equanimity. At times, it's almost like "seeing myself there too"... And I also watch my memories pass by, and even my own opinions and expectations can take a back seat when I'm so absorbed... I suppose these kinds of things, these experiences, are what often lead me to say that for me; Wandering the streets taking photos is a kind of "yoga" for me... And yet, and I don't really know where I get these ideas from, but they're there; I also think that yoga leads to a quieting of the mind and a specific state of calm. And then I look at myself in my experience and conclude that what's happening to me is something a little deeper, and phrases like "a softened, diffused identity, made almost ethereal and light" appear in my head... And over the years I've thought that, from using what I do so much to observe myself, I ended up kind of "diluting" the old Jes煤s Linares and inventing or discovering something new that has very little to do with him... And I hope all this I've written doesn't sound too strange, but you know me and you know I'm not one to hold back from writing down what's going on in my head. So here it all is, and I truly thank everyone here at #Hive for this space, for reading me, seeing my photos, and being here...
