This is the story behind this photographic series and its name, "DELIRIUM": One hot morning last week, I walked to the grounds near the town's municipal cemetery. My intention was to take refuge for a while in the shade of some enormous trees that have been there for years, even before the streets were paved and were still dirt roads, according to the oldest residents. The thing is, while I was trying to cool down under those trees, I couldn't help but observe the marvelous abstraction and diverse textures present in their old bark, and that's how I ended up walking around the trunks, some even bearing the marks of having been ravaged by fire. And while I was observing, I was also, of course, taking photos, and even talking to myself out loud. And just as I was doing that, an old high school classmate rode by on his motorcycle and, without stopping, shouted at me: "Now I'm sure you're delirious! It must be the heat, you've completely lost it!" 😂And he burst out laughing as he disappeared down the street. I just waved, but right then it occurred to me that "DELIRIUM" would be an excellent title for a series made up of the photos I was taking of those interesting tree barks... And that's how this came about, and I still haven't seen my friend to thank him for his help with the title, by the way! 😂

Esta es la historia de esta serie fotográfica y su nombre "DELIRIUM": Una calurosa mañana de la semana pasada, llegué caminando hasta los terrenos cercanos al cementerio municipal del pueblo. Mi intención era refugiarme durante un rato bajo la sombra de unos enormes árboles que llevan años allí, incluso antes de que las calles fuesen pavimentadas y aún eran de tierra esas calles, según me cuenta los más mayores del pueblo. El caso es que, mientras yo estaba procurando bajar mi temperatura corporal debajo de aquellos árboles, no puede dejar el observar la maravillosa abstracción y diversas texturas presentes en sus viejas cortezas, y así fue como terminé dando vuelta alrededor de los troncos, algunos incluso con huellas de haber sido presa del fuego durante algún incendio. Y al mismo tiempo que observaba, también hacía fotos obviamente, y hasta hablaba conmigo mismo en voz alta. Y justo en esos momentos en los que me encontraba haciendo eso, pasó montado sobre su motocicleta un antiguo compañero de secundaria y sin detenerse me gritó: ¡Ahora sí estoy seguro de que estás delirando, ha de ser por el calor, ya has enloquecido por completo! 😂y soltó una carcajada mientras se perdía calle abajo. Yo simplemente le saludé con mi mano, pero justo en ese momento se me vino a la cabaza eso, que "DELIRIO" sería un excelente título para una serie construida con las fotos que estaba haciendo a esas interesantes cortezas de árboles... ¡Y así fue como surgió esto, y aún no he visto a mi amigo para agradecerle por su ayuda con el título, por cierto! 😂

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7}
