Akin’s affluence was easily noticed, as he readily flaunted and wasted money at every opportunity. Of course, he was born with a silver spoon, and want was a strange word to him. He usually has his wants and needs met, probably even before he makes a request for any item.
He was the only child of his parents and had life at his beckon. His dad’s counsel to concentrate on his academics at the college fell on deaf ears. Akin’s mother always found a defense for her son whenever her husband rebuked him. Akin lived the life of the city, and his fame was unrivaled in club houses and parties.
"Young master, Chief asked me to bring you to him." Mr. Henry, the chief’s driver, said humbly to Akin, who was preparing to go out with his friends.
"Tell him I’ll come see him later." Akin shrugged off the driver with a wave.
"I’m sorry, but he insists I must bring you, sir." Mr. Henry replied, looking indifferently at Akin. One of his dad’s security guards, popularly called BIG JOE had also followed the driver to pick him up.
"Fine!" Akin replied and entered the back seat of the black Peugeot tinted salon car sent to pick him up. His dad’s office was approximately 25 minutes’ drive away; however, the driver took a totally different turn and headed out of town.
"Where are you taking me to, Mr. Henry?" Akin asked arrogantly.
"I’m taking you to meet the chief as instructed." Mr. Henry replied courteously, hitting the accelerator. Akin murmured and made several threats, which fell on deaf ears, and BIG JOE would not even make a budge. After about 5 hours of travel out of the city through some communities on the outskirts, Mr. Henry brought the car to a stop in front of a two-story building. The house looked old yet well-built, and trees surrounding it cast shadows from the sun's rays. Akin was uncomfortable already, wondering what he was doing at the distant house, far from home. His efforts to reach his parents proved abortive. Mr. Henry handed over his phone to him along with an envelope containing $100.
"Hello son, I have had to take this step to expose you to a life of simplicity, and perhaps you will understand and value what you have in abundance. All your accounts are frozen, and I have set up people in the town to monitor and prevent you from leaving. Do not worry about your mother; I have already convinced her. Take care, son; we love you." Akin’s dad spoke in the video.
Akin’s eyes welled up immediately, and seeing BIG JOE’s look, he respected himself and stepped out of the car. He wished he could wake up to reality, but he needed to convince himself that he had been set up. He watched as Mr. Henry and BIG JOE sped off, leaving him to his fate. A key was handed over to him with tag number 4, apparently because he was going to have strangers as neighbors. He had never stepped into the rural community, but now his fate has been sealed to this life for an indefinite time. Everywhere seemed quiet for a living apartment, and he knew he was up for a boring life and would need to adapt to the new life ahead of him.

A few weeks down the line, Akin had adjusted to life in the countryside, even though the early days were troublesome.
He was engaged in tutorial classes for some students after their school hours, which earned him enough money to eat and fend for himself. Occasionally he missed the ostentatious life he enjoyed before, but gradually he came to appreciate the new found life.
