Does the boss in your office complain of being left behind by exemplary employees? Here are nine reasons that make workers out of the office, as reported by Forbes.
Being forced to work too hard
There is nothing good about forcing an employee to work non-stop. People who are forced to work very hard feel they are being punished for good results. Even Stanford's study shows that hourly productivity dives sharply when working hours exceed 50 hours per week, and productivity drops dramatically after working 55 hours.
If it is to force an exemplary employee to work hard, it is better to raise his position. Employees who have the ability to accept greater responsibility. Raising positions, promotions and status increases are a great way to give more jobs. If you hire people harder just because he is talented, without changing anything, they will be looking for a better job.
Contributions and good work are not touted
It is easy to underestimate the power of praise, especially on the great worker who is motivated from within. Everyone likes praise, let alone those who work hard. Managers should communicate with their subordinates to find out what makes them feel better (some like promotions or public acknowledgments) and then do that to make their business appreciated.
No matter to the employee
More than half of the people who leave work do so because the relationship is not good with the boss. Smart companies will make sure managers know how to balance professional life but remain human.
There are bosses who celebrate the success of employees, participate empathize when they are overwritten. Bosses who fail to care about their employees will eventually be left behind. It is impossible to work with others for eight more hours each day when they do not care about anything but your work.
They do not appreciate commitment
Making an appointment with people puts you at a fine line between making them happy or seeing them go. When you have a commitment, in the eyes of employees you can prove yourself to be a boss who can be trusted and honorable. When commitments are not held, you become a caring, unconcerned boss. If a boss does not hold a commitment, what about the other?
They hire and promote the wrong people
Exemplary employees want to work with people who have professional thinking. When managers do not hire the right people, it destroys the motivation of people who already work there first. Raising the wrong person's position has a worse effect. When you work hard but promotion is given to the sycophants, it is a big insult. No wonder people choose to quit working there.
They do not let people pursue dreams
Talented employees have high spirits. Providing an opportunity to pursue what they love will increase productivity and job satisfaction. Yet many managers limit the working world of their employees. They fear productivity will decrease when they let employees develop focus and pursue what they like.
A good boss will challenge the employee to achieve things that were not imagined. Instead of setting challenging targets, they just let people inside the comfort zone. Then, a good boss will do everything to help a successful employee. When talented employees do things that are too easy or boring, they will look for other, more challenging jobs.
