Here's the ruleset
Let's talk about my lineup
Summoner: Possibilus the Wise
Possibilus gives my whole team plus 2 health. Possibilus gives all of my melee attackers reach and trample.
Tank: Sea Monster
With self healing the Sea Monster has a chance to last a long time. Even longer when it's not the only monster getting hit as the tank. The self healing also gets a boost with the health boost from Possibilus.
1st position: Coastal Sentry
I talked about Coastal Sentry in my last battle challenge and I've continued to use this monster with some regularity. 3 melee damage with double strike gives me 6 damage per turn. It's like having Grund available in the water splinter where this monster can pair beautifully with Possibilus.
2nd position: Venari Marksrat
I've been excited to try out the new martyr ability. This ability on this monster pairs up so well with the equal opportunity ruleset. With one of the lowest starting life totals on my team the Marksrat goes down early and beefs a pair of double strikers to make them both BIGGER, FASTER, STRONGER. Now my Coastal Sentry is hitting for 8 damage (12 after trampling) and Axemaster starts hitting for 6, which brings us to our next position.
3rd position: Axemaster
2 ranged attack with double strike and great speed usually means 4 damage each turn, sometimes divided between 2 monsters.
4th position: Igor Darkspear
I only had 2 mana left at this point. Igor has some solid stats for 2 mana.
5th position: Torrent Fiend
At 0 mana, I get a melee attacker with opportunity and trample. Seems pretty good. It's mostly just bait when my opponent's monsters all have opportunity too, but still not bad.
Did we win?
Yes. This was a beautiful use case for the new Marksrat where I was able to beef a pair of double strikers.
Do I like Venari Marksrat?
Yes! This new ability is like a great combination of the Bloodlust and Redemption abilities.
What will I try differently next time?
I was very excited to see this setup work. Equal opportunity is a great ruleset for the Marksrat. I would love to have the mana to add River Hellondale to this setup. It would be so hilarious to see the Martyr ability go off twice with the resurrect ability.
Right after writing this I managed to get the double Martyr in another opportunity ruleset
