Where I found it
I recently took my kids to the library. They usually put up a fight about going but then they don't want to leave and they want to check out like 40 books when you do leave. While my kids were looking at books I glanced around for some favorite authors and when that didn't turn up anything good I looked for something my kids might enjoy. My kids are young enough that pictures are still very important to them, so I took a look in their children's graphic novels and stumbled onto this.
Plot
This book is described as a graphic memoir. So, it's a graphic novel of his own life. Pedro grew up in a family of 9 kids with the first half born in Mexico and the second half born in California. This book focuses on a family trip to Mexico so that they can bring his grandpa home to the states.

Favorite part
Before leaving Mexico Pedro's grandpa wants to say goodbye to his wife who has passed away. What the goodbye entails is a bit of a shock. The description of everything is handled so tastefully.

The artwork is simple and engaging. The interaction with his family and outsiders is clever and funny. The whole book is soaked with nostalgia, family and culture.
