Today was a nice day to sit in front of my laptop and draw. What more with nice music, right? 馃榿 It was gloomy and breezy and so, I feel like playing mellow background music while I draw. Sometimes, it affects what I am working on. I believe that art is what the artist is thinking at that moment.
I just want to share what I stumbled to in the internet.
I came across a painting entitled Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan. The painting is about violence and bloodshed. I got intrigue because it is one of the saddest painting I have seen.
Anyway~ that is just a little bit of an update. 馃榿
For this week, I chose Spineback Wolf.
I have never seen a real wolf in my life. Here where I live, tropical weather is not suitable for these furry creatures. I only see them in pictures and videos online. I just know that they are bigger than dogs. It reminds me of the dire wolves from the series Game of Thrones. A very memorable scene for me is when they found the pups in the forest. It was a bittersweet moment because the mother of the pup was found dead.
Art process
Now let's turn this fearsome wolf into a chibi cute version. 馃コ Starting with a blue soft brush, I referred to this picture for an aid. I like the fur to be spiky so, I drew pointy edges, especially on the neck part. For the lineart, I chose a solid hard pencil.
The black fur has a little tone of cyan blue. It is not that visible but the moment I color-picked the color for the original card, the hue that I am getting from the color wheel is blue. Same as the inner part of the ears and white fur, they were color-picked from the original chard. Here, I already added the eyes and nose. The horns around the body are three layers clipped to the base color yellow.
Adding more shine to the fur. I just put them on the edges. Assuming that the light source is from the left, I put a darker shade of blue on the right side. I used g-pen to create that spiky hair. Another layer on top of everything, I drew lines outside the base color for added spiky hair.
Final art
For the background, I just put all the layers into one folder. I copy that folder and then merge all the layers. I make the layer bigger and position it at the back. I lowered the opacity to 20 percent.
