I always choose to start with a light colored pen. Since Noxic structure is symmetrical, I use the symmetrical ruler to help me. 😃 It is a very helpful tool because, as a human, I cannot draw a very similar side, and it is a time saver. 😆
During the line art is a faster process since I just did the other side. What I am just bummed out about is the eraser feature of the symmetrical ruler. I can use the invisible pen (the opposite of the opaque pen), but it would be better if I were using the vector eraser, so it would snap to the adjacent lines. And if you noticed, I accidentally unclipped layer of sprayed a light blue color on the bottom. The bucket tool (fill color) is also not applicable in the symmetrical ruler.
I guess the symmetrical ruler only applies when you are using pens, excluding fill color tools. A great tool for me is the color-pick tool. I can easily copy the color from the original art, but not always, as it is affected by the lightness or darkness. I believe most of the digital drawing platform, even the free ones, has this tool.
I always finish the subject first before proceeding with the background. The problem with this is that sometimes I am so caught up with the subject that I become lazy with the background. 😫 I tried to copy the grass on the reference, but damn, it was hard. I gave up and just looked for a grass brush from my inventory. I suck at making grass haha!
