We all know that pouring fat down the drain is not a good thing. What is liquid in our hands quickly turns into a solid in the dark void beneath the sink clogging the pipe and causing further headaches down the line.
To avoid this, I've been pouring out any fats rendered from various dishes and collecting them in a jar to be disposed of someday down the road. Upon my last addition, I was intrigued by the layers that have formed. It almost reminds me of geology as each layer of earth tells a story of a time in the earth just like how each layer of fat represents a different dish.
Wonder how many layers will accumulate in this jar before it's thrown out.
