Iβm not even going to lie, this weekβs prompt made me rack my head a bit. I kept wondering what was expected of me, just how much I should talk about them, and how deeply I should talk about them. This weekβs prompt is very introspective, so I hope I'm not too late.
My outward look mostly betrays who I truly am, and also what drives me. The question (paraphrased) was, βwhy are you here? And what drives the why?β
Itβs easy to mix things up, ergo, why I gave it so much thought, and I came to the conclusion that I just want to be happy. Thatβs the reason Iβm here. To be happy and make my loved ones happy as well. I know it seems a bit clichΓ©, but I think about everything Iβm doing now. My goals. My passions. What make me get up each day and choose to do the things Iβm doing, and all of that just boils down to what would bring me the utmost happiness and fulfilment, and by extension, ensuring the happiness of my loved ones.
I care deeply about the people that I call my people. Itβs something I say many times and itβs true. Some of them would think that I donβt have the best ways of showing it. I think thatβs due to the fact that they revolve around life lessons, advice, and mostly material things. Watching their faces light up with joy, and their stunned, βWhy, Tessa...β is more fulfilling than many other things that would usually bring me joy.
Also, I care about women. I canβt explain it. I value women so much, and Iβm always on the lookout for the slightest ways I can impact their lives. Itβs crazy how I didnβt know how deep my love ran for the longest time, but as soon as it became clear, itβs like things, from them on, all fell into place. My passion that has bled into gender equality becoming my niche, and women empowerment as an identity I carry on my head constantly.
Iβve got a sweet roommate who has become close to me. From the diverse common grounds we have, she became like a little sister I constantly look out for. A few days back, I found crying deeply over some family stuff. Upon hearing the story, I was filled with a lot of anger on her behalf. I wanted to help so bad. But I knew most of that help had to come from her. One and a half hours later, and I felt peace. She cried again as she gave me the warmest hug Iβve had in a while, and said, βYou always know how to make everything better, Tessa.β
And that statement is the core of why Iβm here. To make everyone happy, and make everything better. For myself. For my loved ones. And for women. Itβs what I always want to do, and who I am as a person. Hopefully, I will always be able to do that.
