2 weeks on... @ Hive - My thoughts so far....

I was introduced to #Hive by a dear friend of mine - @awah. We have spoken about blockchain for a few years; however, I have not had the mental space to take this topic seriously (until now). We met up for a coffee a couple of weeks back when he was telling me all about the HIVE community.

My first honest question was – “But how come I’ve never heard about it???”. I had heard and used some of the more popular platforms, but I had never come across HIVE. @awah explained to me the history of HIVE and how this is a purely decentralized system with no central entity in control. Aha! Then there is no single entity backing it and promoting it. That may mean a slow start for onboarding further users, however, upon reading further I can see lots of you actively working on making onboarding easier for people like me! Thank you!

He continued explaining to me the different facets/views to HIVE, and platforms like Ecency, PeakD and Actifit. I was genuinely impressed how these are all windows into a purely distributed blockchain ecosystem. I must admit that I went away that day completely puzzled. After some reading I eventually managed to create an account, however, even creating an account can be tricky.... After my initial skepticism which lasted about 2 or 3 days I have started becoming more and more familiar. I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of people welcoming me in the HIVE community, and also on the DISCORD servers. My first #introduceyourself post was very encouraging. After that, I have ventured into some of the communities, the first that got my attention was

After a couple of days I started using the Actifit app and this also encouraged me to post regularly, whilst also helping me with my goal of losing “some” weight. What a very good community & system. Nice work @actifit Actifit link

@awah was also encouraging me to have a go at some of the ecosystem games. I had a look around but initially, it was a bit confusing. However, two weeks in I've started playing the Rising start game. I love it for its simplicity but also for its loosely coupled engagement. Nice game, Nice job! - @risingstargame Getting hooked 😁 Below is my current status on the game. 😁

@awah was also explaining to me about the various related eco systems. It was not easy to initially get the concept of tipping. So when I started getting some !WINE or !PIZZA or !ALIVE or !LOL I was (again) slightly puzzled. But I quickly figured out how to add these to the ECENCY portal. I look forward to reading more on these ecosystems so that I fully engage, participate and tip back.. 😂😂

However, perhaps the best thing of HIVE for me is when I started discovering some of the good people here. My intro post was very warmly welcomed by @brittandjosie, @peter.goki amongst others. I was also introduced to people like @steevc, whilst also I noticed some very good content from @livinguktaiwan. I look forward to getting to know many more of you! 🤩

I’m about two weeks in with you guys, and I have still loads to learn about the various HIVE communities and the HIVE blockchain. I would be very interested in learning further on this community, but also learning further on the HIVE distributed app development. I really look forward to collaborating further with you all. It’s a pleasure being here!
