Hello, Movies & TV Shows community!

Many films are "better" at being a "Good" bad movie, but none of them are "bad enough" to my eyes compared to Starship troopers(1997). This movie took it further and stepped up by becoming a critic of the book it was based on, it took itself seriously from its weak plot and made a legend out of it.

Great intro

It has been a long way since 1997, both on effects and the field of politics have a lot of progress, but this movie keeps nailing the difficult nature of humanity and the way they see the world, if we look closer, the whole plot of Starship troopers is "Violence is the king of everything" but alas, is a critic on violence itself.

The movie starts with a show of ultraviolence, filled with gore and guts, and then it takes us to "civilized times" where we see the true nature of the "Terran Federation", the current government of the entire mankind.

These moments behind the looking glass are insane, we see a world that embraced violence and the power of the strong, and abandoned all hope for civilized roles and economy, it has become a fascist utopia and is sold to us as a "good" solution to the chaos of the electoral ways the movie makes an argument than says: Voting is using political force, and Force is violence.

Reality behind voting in this world

The problem in this world is that all electors and the people who are elected are both militaries, mankind disposed of any non-military civil officers. Making all workers of any level of the government a branch of the military.

So they see military ways as the only solution to every problem, and in fact, to have some sort of civil rights you have to join the military and as a reward, you would get the status of "citizen" and be allowed some level of political power.

What makes it harder, is that this is a decision you face in this world as soon as you graduate from high school, you have to either pledge and join or leave for college and face the world willout any civil rights or anything that protects you.

Slavery pledge

But of course, we got the Bugs, those nasty creepers that are the enemy of the fascist human government and all humanity, they are what justifies our never-ending war and makes the war campaign worth something.

Many complain that the Arachnids are a way to extrapolate racism and racial superiority on the story, but to be fair, this movie is anything but deep, all of it is shown to us straight to our face, these claims are at minimum lackluster and have no "Force or violence" behind them.

What is to be noted is how many casualties humanity has on each fight, and how the fascist government ends up sending kids to the first line after some point, as all fascism ends up doing.

Arachnids

We see on this film a display of great effects to its time, and a budget that was incredible to have back them, it should have been a triple-A movie, so what happened?

Behind the plot, many misunderstood the heavily assaulted lack of civil rights of Rico(Main character) as propaganda for fascism, the viewers dint understood that showing cruelty could be made a point, in fact in this movie you see a lot of people getting hurt or dying at the hands of the government.

Rico, for example, got punished because one mistake ends up killing a person under his command, but the fact that he got whipped and stripped of all civil rights is horrible and shows us how misunderstood this scene was. It was meant to show us how horrible fascism can be, how hideous and bloody it can become, so mankind does not follow this path, but people took it as an unnecessary non-bug-fighting scene back then.

Punish by whipping

Of all "Good" bad movies, I think Starship troopers stand in ways many other don't, it made an art of it, it was designed to be bad, it was meant to be terrible, newly found actors, great effects, and misunderstood plot, and many other details made this movie so great at being a "good" bad movie.

Many B grade films are made for success, but this film was made for utter chaos and failure, it was supposed to fail and it was meant to be a disaster, yet it was not, the time has been great to it, as time goes on, this film goes strong. It has become one hell of a critique of fascism and the military in ways other films would never be. It made utter fools out of it and attached a permanent message to the film industry: If you gonna make a movie about a fascist book, make it so then you assault it instead of support it.

¡Hola comunidad de Movies & TV Shows!

Bienvenidos a propaganda Vtv, perdón, red federal

Asalto exitoso, insectos muertos
