When I was on a musical tour in Spain, there was a city that had us in expectation, not only because it was the last place to discover, but also because the orchestra of our institution has already made music here and our colleagues have mentioned us about its architecture, but the visual experience was superior. The elegance of Burgos captivated us even before we arrived, when we saw it from afar. I remember that one of the first things that impressed me on the highway, before entering the city, was to see that the cathedral stood out in height because of its great towers.
Cuando estuve de gira musical por España, había una ciudad que nos tenía a la expectativa, no solo por ser el último lugar a descubrir, sino porque la orquesta de nuestra institución ya ha hecho música aquí y nuestros colegas nos han mencionado sobre su arquitectura, pero la experiencia visual fue superior. La elegancia de Burgos nos cautivó desde antes de llegar, cuando la vimos desde lejos. Recuerdo que una de las primeras cosas que me impresionó en la autopista, antes de entrar a la ciudad fue ver que la catedral resaltaba en altura por sus grandes torres.
I captured all these pictures of the city center in record time, since we arrived at the hotel after lunch and we had a concert in the afternoon, but everything I saw was beautiful, I would have liked to detail more of the city, but in addition to our occupations, the cold was powerful, very powerful for Venezuelans who are not used to it. It was early spring, but a last blow of winter was hitting Spain those days, so for health and care of my vocal instrument I preferred not to venture, in fact my wife was already very sick from the cold of the city of Oviedo.
Todas estas fotografías del centro de la ciudad las capturé en tiempo récord, ya que llegamos al hotel luego del almuerzo y teníamos concierto al caer la tarde, pero todo lo que veía era hermoso, me habría gustado detallar más la ciudad, pero además de nuestras ocupaciones, el frío era potente, muy potente para venezolanos que no estamos acostumbrados a ello. Era inicios de primavera, pero una último golpe del invierno azotaba a España esos días, así que por salud y cuidado de mi instrumento vocal preferí no aventurarme, de hecho mi esposa ya estaba muy enferma desde el frío de la ciudad de Oviedo.
It was not only the cathedral, really the whole area had a gothic architecture. In fact the vegetation helped to give that impression, since many of its trees were dry, besides, the sky was totally gray and so it was reflected in the rivers, a work of art for gothic art lovers like me. On the other hand the wind was blowing strongly, the most icy breeze I have felt in my life so far ❤️
No era solo la catedral, realmente toda la zona tenía un arquitectura gótica. De hecho la vegetación ayudaba a dar esa impresión, ya que muchos de sus árboles estaban secos, además, el cielo era totalmente gris y así se reflejaba en los ríos, toda una obra de arte para los amantes del arte gótico como yo. Por otra parte el viento golpeaba fuertemente, la brisa más helada que he sentido en mi vida hasta ahora ❤️
Maybe it was a very quick visit, but it was unforgettable. I remember that the space in the altar was not enough for 91 people to sing, but the power of the music managed to accommodate us all, although we made a very strange distribution of voices. The Cathedral of Burgos was full of attendees, in fact there was so much public that not everything was located in the central nave, but on the sides, they could not even see us directly but they still made a queue under the inclement breeze to enjoy our choral group, that raised our energy and we ended up doing one of the best concerts of our tour, it was a magical night...
Quizás fue una visita muy rápida, pero fue inolvidable. Recuerdo que el espacio en el altar no era suficiente para que cantáramos 91 personas, pero el poder de la música logró acomodarnos a todos, aunque hicimos una distribución súper extraña de las voces. La Catedral de Burgos se llenó de asistentes, de hecho había tanto público que no todo estaba ubicado en la nave central, sino en los costados, ni siquiera nos podían ver directamente pero igual hicieron una cola bajo la inclemente brisa para disfrutar de nuestra agrupación coral, eso elevó nuestra energía y terminamos haciendo uno de los mejores conciertos de nuestra gira, fue una noche mágica...
To top it off, Burgos was the only city where the rain attacked us with our dress uniforms on 🤣 our buses were far away from the cathedral, but we had to go, we had the two weeks of concert on top of us and the visit of 8 cities, we were tired and we couldn't wait for it to stop raining, so walking in the rain was part of the experience and we remember it with a lot of joy. Honestly I was freezing and it didn't help much to get on the bus with our wet suits, but we laughed, we laughed a lot about everything that happened and we left the concert happy. More than the tiredness, I think it was the rain that caused us not to go out and get to know a little more in the evening, because I think that despite the breeze I would have done it anyway 😅
Por si fuera poco, Burgos fue la única ciudad donde la lluvia nos atacó con nuestros uniformes de gala puestos 🤣 nuestros autobuses estaban muy lejos de la catedral, pero teníamos que irnos, teníamos las dos semanas de concierto encima y la visita de 8 ciudades, estábamos cansados y no podíamos esperar a que dejara de llover, así que caminar bajo la lluvia fue parte de la experiencia y la recordamos con mucha alegría. Sinceramente yo estaba congelado y no ayudó mucho entrar al autobús con nuestros trajes mojados, pero nos reímos, nos reímos mucho de todo lo ocurrido y salimos felices del concierto. Más que el cansancio, creo que fue la lluvia la que ocasionó que no saliéramos a conocer un poco más en la noche, porque creo que a pesar de la brisa yo lo habría hecho igual 😅
