Yep! That's me, farmer Jerry. For those of you who do not know this about me, I love plants, but until this past December, I had only potted plants, that I moved in and out during cold weather.
I'm about to turn 66, and my back isn't holding up too well for that.
So, on Dec 11 2020 I signed the papers, so that now the bank and myself own this 80 yr old farm house and 1.6 acres of land, the back half of which are pure woods

This ground is INCREDIBLY hard, there was no way I could use a shovel, hoe or mattock/pickaxe to get anything done, so I bought a corded electric tiller
With the tiller, I break up the ground, working hard because of roots and ROCKS, I manage to get things done, so far.
I began my Veggie garden in back, where it gets almost all day full sun.
This was the beginning, the tomato plant I wanted to have a jump start, so I bought one that was already over a foot tall, the other two you see here are sweet basil and Italian Oregano.
The problem is, I have only ONE Spigot/Hose bib outside the house, and it is almost mid ways on the OPPOSITE side from here.
A 100 ft garden hose barely gets close, and since my water pressure isn't the greatest, watering these plants is a real issue.
Since I have deer in my woods
And since I collect (for measuring my vital signs) my urine almost every night. I've been going out and spreading it in a line around the veggie garden, not ON them mind you. The scent will help repel the deer, but who would have thought there would be other benefits as well?

So this was about 2 months ago
So that cherry mater died, and I moved the Squash over there. Someone gave me some Habanero pepper plants, so they are in the ground, and just yesterday I installed TWO more cherry mater plants
Here is my veggie garden as of this morning
I've harvested a few tomatoes so far
My Poblano's are looking good, although I hope they will bloom and give me more in a couple of months
And my Okra is surprising me! I would hope they'd grow taller, as stooping over is an issue for me.
This one almost slipped by me, when they get this big they tend to be stringy.
My cucumbers are making
So far, I've not had the need for any pesticides, and I've used only organic vegetable fertilizer, potting soil and composted manure.
