Our garden has been thriving these days despite the hot weather. For weeks, it has been really hot with little to no rain at all. However, I'm glad to say that our little garden is doing pretty well.
I didn't open any additional classes in the afternoon, so I decided to go out and help in the garden... and also take some photos to update my blog.

Do you remember this round planter box from my previous post? We finally finished it and have planted the water spinach as well as some sweet potato tops all around it. We didn't take out the flowers, thought because it's been growing well and it looks pretty inside the round planter box.
In the past, we used an old tire as our compost pit; however, my father created a much bigger one. The soil in this area isn't very nice, so we usually gather better soil, cow manure, and our compost to use for our plants so they can grow healthier and better.
We're trying to grow our plants as naturally as possible... and this compost pit is a great addition to make that possible.

Our strawberries haven't borne fruit yet, but they're growing and populating. Originally, our landlady gave us a single pot of a strawberry plant, and now we have three of them, and we can also transfer more in the future. The strawberries we ate at our landlady's place was delicious, so I'm looking forward to having strawberries straight from our garden.
These papaya plants were still so small when our landlady gave them to us, and now they're growing well. My father transferred them earlier because they were initially planted next to each other. We decided to keep them at a distance to allow more growth. We used to have some papaya trees around this area, but they're old and don't bear good fruit anymore. In addition, they grew too high that some animals eat them even before we could harvest them. These ones are the shorter versions. :)
In addition to our older plants, we now have these iba fruit and pineapple plants. My parents visited our landlady's place a few weeks back, and when they got home, they brought these plants. It's really a perk to have a landlady who's also really into gardening. She's happy that we're making use of the available space to make a garden around our rented house, and she's been very happy every time she visits us as well.
We're lucky that she allows us to use the whole place and not only the house. We can even harvest the fruits that are already growing here. Last time, we ate lots of water apples and mangoes. We can also freely get some coconuts as well. And speaking of fruits...
We're waiting to harvest these soursop (guyabano) fruits as well as these jackfruits. We have harvested a couple of soursop fruits already; one we gave to my aunt... and the other is still on our dining table. We're waiting for it to ripen even more.

We planted some snake plants in front of the house. I personally love snake plants.

We had a nice time in the garden this afternoon. After working, we stayed outside a little longer because the air was so fresh and it felt really comfortable. Then, we headed inside to prepare for dinner.
