At different times back home, we had two different types, but the point is that in Winter, you can flip the baffle and divert the warm moist air INTO the house, saving heat and adding Hoomidity.

I've asked several times at both Homey Despot and Lowe's, they would look at me like I was from another planet, suggesting this thing that looked like a pot,

the vent hose would just blow into that and the lint (which should be much, if the dryer filter is working) would be trapped in water you left in that pot.
Kudos to Barnes Store in Mableton, (which used to be an Ace Hardware affiliate. Ace or Bogus Robbers [really it was Bowen-Rogers, but we affectionately renamed it 馃槣] back home had to be where I got the ones we had)
For $9.94 + tax, I would say this was a good investment.
Btw, there was and still is, LOTS of slack in that vent hose under the laundry area.
