I called TriWest a few moments ago, and got the low down on
these authorizations and the time limit.
My letter says this authorization began last Nov, and runs through this May.
I didn't even GET this letter until Mar 1, they didn't begin the process of calling
ME to start setting up a surgical Dr until Jan...so
how on earth could I be expected to connect with the surgeon,
jump all the hoops and get this done before May?
The girl from TriWest said that once the provider (surgeon) contacts them to say
I've got the ball rolling, a new authorization would be issued to cover any
rehab or complication, and this letter is wrong anyway;
the current Authorization is from Feb-Aug 2019.
As far as permissions and documents, the VA should have already sent
everything needed, but I have placed a call to the
Emory person in charge of this sort of thing just to be sure.
