I've been a member of AAA since 2009, I've contacted them for assistance 4 times in all those years.
Once, they sent the driver into downtown Atl based on the address I could see from where I was broke down (I was 20 mi away on the edge between Smyrna and Mableton, and in the ensuing 2+ hr wait, I got my car running)
Now, in Ga, your car tag must be renewed during your birthday month. As it happened, my AAA renewal was also that month.
Being very low income, having those two items ding the same month was an issue, so I got AAA to move my renewal (Auto renewal at that) to Sept.
Their yearly membership has constantly risen year by year.
SO.
I've been told that most Auto Insurance policies also offer roadside assistance.
After I got a text from my Credit Union saying there was "unusual activity" which I authorized, because I knew it was AAA taking the renewal funds that they SHOULD NOT HAVE for another month.

I stewed on this for a few moments, then I called USAA, through which I have my auto insurance.
They DO have roadside assistance, which I had declined because I had AAA. I got the rep to see how much it would add to my bill> THREE DOLLARS PER MONTH!!!! $24 per year Provides emergency roadside assistance (such as towing, flat tire changing and delivery of gas)..
I have been paying $104 to AAA for a couple of years.

Presto Changeo!

I called AAA and canceled my membership, and they said they were issuing a refund.
You don't want to poke this bear too often.
