My niece (on the left) lost her husband today (in the center) on the right is their oldest daughter in a pic with them where she used to work.
That's right, she worked IN the White House under Pres Obama

She is now assigned to NATO and lives in Brussels.
When her father grew so very ill this time, she came home, and she and her sister were there with the whole family as he died this morning at 11 am.
My niece and I are almost the same age (I'm 2 months older). She had let me know that he may be leaving this world today, and offered for me to come over this morning to say good bye.
Then I got this text at 9:40 AM:

This is gut wrenching. The girls do not want anybody else here except the three of us. So we are not having anybody else come over today. Basically he is being given drugs to make him calm and he's going to pass today.

then at 1:52 pm, she sent this:

Tom deteriorated a lot during the night and he passed today around 11 AM. We are thankful that we were all together with him and he understood a little bit, enough for us to be able to say goodbye, but then he lost cognition.
We are in process of making funeral arrangements.

So in the meantime, I needed to get out from under this depression, and since I couldn't be any help to them, I got a friend and the two of us went to the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
I got a few things

A used mixer (sold as is) another flat cast iron fry pan, and that blue picture behind the cashier
We stopped at Your Pie in Smyrna

It was while sitting there, I got the news that he had died.
I stopped at Kroger on the way back, after dropping off my friend, and put up the pic, washed the blades for the mixer (it DOES work, but who knows for how long)

Two more loaf pans and more bread flour, I am now ready to try this bread thing again. Baking 4 loaves at a time is much more efficient, and my bread is in demand.

Then, His Majesty tried to stop me from going to get some wine
