‎Hello everyone, I welcome you to my blog.

‎It is that time of the year again. Everyone is preparing, making plans, and asking friends the same question.
‎
‎"Will you be traveling home for Christmas?"
‎
‎That's the question on almost every lip you come across. I've been asked the same question, but funny enough, I have no response yet, which is very unlike me.
‎
‎A few years back, Christmas was the only time I always looked forward to. Easter never really felt like a holiday, but Christmas and new year, they were the best moments for me. I'd spend the whole year saving money little by little, and one would think I had some kind of responsibility, but no, the money was just for the hangouts. When the family hangs out, and my Dad takes care of the bills, there's this excitement I get whenever I order something extra for everyone. My dad would always smile, and say I'd make a good mother. He probably didn't know how long it took to save up, just to get him to compliment me.
‎But now, things have changed, and saving has become very hard with all the responsibility on my shoulder.
‎
‎I come from a community where no Christmas is ever boring. There's always something fun to either watch, or participate in. They have the different masquerade dance, a soccer between kindreds, and the most exciting one, a match between the women. It's always fun to travel home. Though I don't participate in any of these because I'm not always around, I still make sure to watch every one of the games, and cheer up my best team. In my hometown, Christmas isn't something you'd want to miss. Though it's just for a few days, but those few days may likely fill you with a joy you've not had for the whole year.
‎
‎It was like that for me last year. I had really waited eagerly to travel home, and spend the short fun time with my family, but then, I lost the only joy I had back home. And now, home doesn't really feel like home again. It's quite sad that when others will be celebrating, my family would be holding memorials our father's death.
‎
‎Also, the Christmas this year, in my friend's voice, it feels like a setup. Every student of my school, depending on their department will know that this Christmas can't be too fun. Many in my department are staying back, because next year January, a hot examinations kicks off. There's still the seminar, and project proposal waiting for you. It's just as if the Christmas is here to drift our mind off for a bit, and then, once January comes, a hard reality will hit us all. And all we can only do is curse at the school, but they do not really care about all of that.
‎
‎So to answer the question, will I be spending the Christmas with my family, or will I do it on my own?
‎
‎I may most likely do it on my own. There's a lot to cover, and a lot to do. And I've got a lot of jobs that I'm yet to deliver because of lack of time, and I still have my exams and final year project to get ready for.
‎
‎If I were to travel home, it wouldn't be for the fun. It would be for the food, and the food I'd return back to school with. I may travel towards the ending of the year, probably on the 31st, and return on the 1st of January.
‎
‎This year's Christmas isn't really for me, and I've made peace with that. Maybe next year, we'll go again, and make up for all the fun we missed out on. But this year, it'll just be like every other day for me.
‎
‎Merry Christmas in advance to us all!!!
