Hello, everyone today I'll share my opinion and personal experience about work from home and regular jobs. I am still a student, so I don't have an experience of job. But I have watched my dad work from home and that is why I have decided to share his experience and the way I think about remote work.
So, my dad started working from home a few years ago. In the beginning , I thought it's going to be easier for my dad now and he will be able to spend some more time with us. I imagined that he would watch TV with me and help me with my homework, also he will be able to take short breaks for himself. I was happy because he won't be travelling far away as he used to before.
But the reality was very different. His bedroom became his office and he is always sitting there. I used to see him working before I woke up, and when I came back from school, I would still see him working and most of the time he attended meetings while we were having lunch. The strangest part was that he was home but he was not always available.
So, the last time when I wanted to show my dad a drawing I had made. He was not paying attention to me and was looking very tired. I was impatient but I still waited for him and after an hour when he had finished his meeting then he noticed me.
My dad asked me,“What are you doing here? Is your homework done?”
I replied,"Yes, I have finished it long ago. And I wanted to show you my drawing."
He smiled and looked at my drawing.
Then he said,“Working from home doesn't mean work is any less. Sometimes it means your office follows you everywhere.”
So, yeah. My misconception about work from home disappeared. So, I don't think working from home will disappear and I think it varies from people to people. Maybe people will have both in the future like they do now. For an example, if I start a business of an online imitation jewellery shop then I will need to hire staffs for packaging and moderators to reply to the customer. So, here the moderators do not need to stay at the office to attend customers online, they can just work from home. On the other hand, staff will need to be at the office all day to package the products and safely send them to the courier service. As, you can see both have different requirements but both are important. It's not always necessary to be at the office. If the job requires you to be there then you should be there but if you can complete it from home then it's not necessary.
I have learned from my dad that a job is not only about where you work. It matters that if you're dedicated enough to work from anywhere. For me, working from home is not a trend. It is a different way of living and I think it will continue to have a place in the future.
