Good afternoon to the entire great Hive family! Today I want to take you on a tour of a truly emblematic site in eastern geography and history: Siboney, a place where the waves of the Caribbean Sea seem to whisper the deeds of those who fought for our freedom.

To understand the true magnitude of this place, we have to travel back in time to the year 1898, in the midst of the Spanish-American-Cuban War. The coast of Siboney and its surroundings played a top-tier military strategic role.
It was precisely through this coastal area that the historic landing of the allied troops and the Liberation Army took place. In these operations, the figure of Major General Calixto García Íñiguez stands out with its own light; as one of the most brilliant leaders of the mambisado, his tactical leadership and coordination on the eastern front were decisive for the military actions that were developed in Santiago de Cuba.

So that this event is never erased from the collective memory, the site features a relief commemorative plaque fixed on the stone walls of the coast. It lists the regiments, brigades, and commanders who participated in those days of intense wartime activity between June and July 1898.

Marking the surroundings of these historical events precisely, a monument or landmark is also erected on the rock formations, serving as a perpetual witness to the nation's history right on the seashore.

After immersing ourselves in the rich military and patriotic history of the place, it is impossible to ignore the natural spectacle that surrounds it. The coasts of Siboney are characterized by rugged rock formations where seawater crashes with impressive force, creating a dynamic landscape full of life.

The constant waves sculpt the rocks day after day, offering a picture of nature in its wildest and most beautiful state, very typical of our southeastern coast.

Visiting Siboney is instantly connecting with our roots and, at the same time, enjoying an unforgettable outdoor walk. Here I share with you some moments from our visit exploring this very special corner.

Without a doubt, Siboney is much more than a coastal landscape; it is a history book open to the Caribbean Sea that we should all know and value.
