Pardillal, a hidden gem worth discovering [Esp-Eng]

Pardillal is a really cute little town located quite a ways from where I live. Some friends invited us to go there, but interestingly enough, they had never been there either—they’d simply been invited by other friends of theirs, and they took us along. My friend drove his car, so the trip was a little shorter than if we’d taken the bus. It took us two and a half hours to get there.

This place is quite deep in the mountains. From the main road, we turned left and drove and drove and drove for quite a while. However, it didn’t matter too much because the views along the way were quite beautiful. Personally, I love areas like this; to be honest, it reminded me of a place in another Venezuelan state called Guárico, which is a bit more rural and is always full of cows and lots of vegetation.

Pardillal es un pueblito bien lindo que se encuentra retirado de donde vivo. Fueron unos amigos quienes nos invitaron a ir para allá, pero curiosamente ellos tampoco habían visitado nunca este lugar, simplemente otros amigos de ellos los habían invitado y nos llevaron con ellos. Mi amigo se fue en su carro, así que el viaje fue un poco más corto que si nos hubiésemos ido en autobús. Nos tomó dos horas y media llegar allá.

​Este lugar se encuentra bastante dentro de la montaña. En la vía principal nos desviamos a la izquierda y rodamos, rodamos y rodamos por un buen rato. Sin embargo, no importó demasiado porque las vistas alrededor en el viaje eran bastante bonitas. En lo personal me encantan las zonas así, la verdad es que parecía un lugar de otro estado de Venezuela llamado Guárico, que es un poco más rural y está lleno siempre de vacas y muchísima vegetación.

When we finally arrived at the place we thought was Pardillal, my friends’ friends told us that wasn’t it—that we had to drive a little farther—so we stayed in the car for another twenty minutes until we finally got there. We visited the home of some people who live in the area and walked a lot, because the car couldn’t go any further on the dirt road, which, to be honest, had quite a few potholes and rocks.

Our trip was supposed to take us all the way to the river, so we walked there for quite a while. We made a short stop under a tree, and since each of us had brought our own lunch, we sat down to eat there. We had a sort of picnic during our little trip, and I really enjoyed it—it was a fun and pleasant experience. After eating and resting for a while, we kept walking; the nice thing about the area is that the trees provided some shade from the sun.

​Cuando finalmente llegamos al sitio que creímos que era Pardillal, los amigos de mis amigos nos dijeron que no, que había que rodar un rato más, así que estuvimos en el carro veinte minutos más hasta que finalmente llegamos. Visitamos la casa de unas personas que viven ahí en la zona y caminamos un montón, porque el carro ya no podía pasar por la carretera de tierra, que la verdad tenía bastantes baches y piedras.

​Nuestro recorrido iba a ser hasta el río, así que caminamos hasta allá durante bastante tiempo. Hicimos una pequeña parada bajo un árbol y, como cada uno de nosotros había llevado su almuerzo, allí nos pusimos a comer. Tuvimos como una especie de picnic dentro de nuestro viajecito y la verdad me gustó mucho, fue una experiencia divertida y agradable. Luego de comer y descansar un rato volvimos a seguir caminando; lo bueno de la zona es que los árboles te cubrían un poco del sol.

There were quite a few farms and beautiful spots nearby that I assume were for rent, since they had swimming pools, swings, and other amenities. Personally, I thought the place was absolutely gorgeous. I’m always happy when I’m somewhere where, if I look around, I see little animals—and there were plenty of horses and cows there, and even donkeys, which I loved because I adore donkeys.

After walking for quite a while, we finally reached the river, but something unexpected happened: the river was extremely low, so obviously we couldn’t swim in it. However, we stayed there for a little while, dipped our feet in the river to rest them from the walk, and sat under the trees on the riverbank just chatting—and for me, that was an incredible experience.

It’s different sitting with your friends and talking in your living room than sitting and talking with them by the riverbank, with the cool breeze from the trees blowing on your face. Just being surrounded by nature turns any experience into an incredible moment. I don’t know when I’ll visit this place again, and if I do, I’ll probably explore other areas there, but I can say it was nice to visit.

​Alrededor habían bastantes fincas y lugares lindos que supongo que alquilaban, ya que estos tenían piscina, columpios y demás. El lugar en lo personal me pareció demasiado hermoso. Yo siempre voy a ser feliz cuando estoy en un lugar en el que al voltear hacia los lados veo algún animalito, y allí habían bastantes caballos y vaquitas, e incluso había burros, lo cual me encantó porque amo los burros.

​Después de caminar por un buen rato finalmente llegamos al río, pero ocurrió algo inesperado, el río estaba excesivamente bajo, entonces obviamente no pudimos bañarnos en él. Sin embargo, nos quedamos ahí un ratito, metimos los pies al río para descansarlos por la caminata y nos quedamos bajo los árboles sentados a la orilla simplemente conversando, y eso para mí fue una experiencia increíble.

​Es diferente sentarte con tus amigos a hablar en la sala de tu casa que sentarte a hablar con ellos a la orilla del río, con la brisa fresca de los árboles llegándote a la cara. Simplemente estar rodeado de naturaleza hace de cualquier experiencia un momento increíble. No sé cuándo volveré a visitar este lugar y, si lo hago, probablemente conoceré otras zonas de allí, pero puedo decir que fue lindo visitarlo.
