Edge of Tomorrow
In short, think of a "Ground Hog Day" meets "Independence Day", sort of film. A slightly longer version of this is that Tom Cruise whom up until this fateful battle has only appeared in marketing campaigns in order to get new recruits. So no combat battle experience at all.
He essentially ends up on the battle ground after one day's "training". This battle is where the Aliens are not just wining but effectively slaughtering the humans. It just so happens that Tom kills a special kind of alien gets its blood all over himself and is then killed. Tom's death now reset's the time line to the beginning of the same day. Let the fun begin.
Hence, every time he dies he has to relive the same day, it is on the second or third day he meets Emily Blunt, whom he finds shortly learns that she had this "power" but lost it by "not dying quickly enough", being found by the medics where upon which she received a blood transfusion.
This means, no problem if Tom dies, he just can't be injured and live or receive medical attention which would save him. So now with each repeat of the day Tom's skills increase and he gets closer to finding the Head alien.
The movie had a good amount of comic relief in certain area's, along with the special effects you would expect from a big budget Hollywood film. All in all worth seeing.
