Summer is here in the Philippines and it is time to visit the countryside other than the inside of the cubicle. There used to be about 7,107 islands but this is no longer the case according to the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA). Unknown islands have been discovered that have increased the count to 7,641. :-)
With that information, I don't think I can visit all the islands in my own country with just a lifetime. But I would be very grateful to our loving God if I have visited at least 500-1000 islands before my end of days.
Recent thrill factor over the long weekend last week was swimming with the whale sharks at Oslob, Cebu. Whale sharks, the largest fish on the planet, are sighted every morning off the shores of Oslob town. They are very gentle giants and feeds on small fish and shrimps. The best way to see these whale sharks is by snorkeling but you can also see them from atop the boat.
Unfortunate, I don't have an underwater camera so the photo here is just borrowed from the net and there are certain rules for tourist to follow just a safety precaution for both tourist and the whale sharks. As a general rule, swimmers are not allowed to get near them and feeding them is not allowed. Just by their sheer size makes them capable of hitting any swimmers who might attempt to touch or ride them. So it's essential for any swimmers to keep at least 3 meters away from them to avoid unintentional blows from its tail or fin.
I can scratched swimming with whale sharks on my bucket list now. You can also try it and you will know SUMMER IS MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES! :-)
