We need to stop feeling "icky" when selling our products and services. When pitching ourselves!
We need to shamelessly self promote.
Why do we feel like sleazy car sales men when selling our products/services?
Why do we get shame around self promotion and particularly if it involves selling something you have created to people?
Ie. I have a new blogging course but I was finding it hard to announce it/ sell it. (I am glad I did it)
Let's unpack this feeling.
I have unpacked my hesitation and mine comes from FEAR.
- of what people will say.
- Of the unknown.
Everyone feels fear from time to time. We must face this head on by self promoting anyway.
Other reasons we hesitate:
I think it comes from our investment or belief in what were selling. If you have zero interest or belief in your product or service then you will feel like that.
(I am glad I 100% back my product so this doesn't apply to my scenario).
Sometimes it is because you feel the product has to be perfect before hitting the market.
ie. I have been tweaking the landing page of my blogging course for days.
I have been reconfirming my pricing strategy for days.
So refine, research and improve your product. Fall in love with what you are selling. What value are you adding. What lives are you changing? What convenience are you bringing?
What is making it better: Going from, "I am pushing this product/ service" to you to " I am serving you and improving your life with this game changing product/ service".
