So at first it was just a mild bout of depression, then I got busy. Very busy. This post was supposed to have gone up yesterday afternoon, but I fell asleep on the keyboard. No joke, I had a 1MB text file full of gibberish waiting for me when I woke up.
I've started working with a small general contractor out of Oxford. They're nice people. Through them I've learned how to install folding attic stairs, repair cedar siding (there will be another, more in depth post about that job someday soonish.), and how to demo and prep floors for both linoleum and tile work.
So that's been a blast.
I've also started welding classes through DelTech community college. It's an accelerated program, so if I don't take a break if be done around the end of November with my AWS certification. I'm definitely going to be taking a break after the next class though. These classes are expensive and the money just isn't there for me to take all the classes in one shot. Right now I'm taking Blueprint reading for welders and Welding basics.
Welding basics is all about Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), which is generally called stick welding. I'm having trouble with my travel speed, but that's probably due to me being a dumbass and trying to weld one handed. That shit does not work. Even so, my welds weren't that bad so I suspect that once I start welding with two hands they'll shape up into something acceptable.
Blueprint reading for welders is a while different beast. Lots of reading and I essentially need to memorise a new 56 letter alphabet in regards to all the welding symbols. While all the words in learning are familiar to me, they now mean completely different things. Basically, I'm learning a language that uses different letters to say English words that have completely different definitions.
This is my todo list for this weekend. There's no way I'm getting it all done.
Since I'm kinda old to be learning a new language, I've started supplementing with Noopept. I call it a supplement, but it's not a vitamin. It's a Russian made drug which can be purchased without a prescription here in the USA (online, don't ask your pharmacist). 10-15mg/day on an empty stomach is how I take it. It's been shown to increase neuroplasticity when taken for an extended time. I've found that if I take it before bed that I can't sleep because my brain won't turn off, and that I will have wicked strange dreams.
So I'm busy, but hopefully I'll have enough time and energy to post regularly again.
