I must say that sometimes accidents in the kitchen can be funny and not go beyond a simple anecdote to tell friends. But at other times they can have irreparable consequences.
I was saved from an accident that could have changed my life forever.
As usual, I was doing some paperwork at the bank. So I was quite late and by the time I got home I was very hungry, although I didn't feel like cooking.
What do most of us do in these cases?
We take a few ingredients, the quickest to prepare and that's it.
Well, that's precisely what I did. Some delicious and quick spaghetti with vegan bolognese sauce. Of course the sauce was already prepared beforehand and I just had to heat it up. What took me the longest, about 12 minutes, was to make the pasta.
I put a pot of water to boil, then I went to answer the phone and while I was having a pleasant conversation with a friend, several minutes passed and I remembered that the pot had been boiling in the kitchen for a while. I said goodbye to my friend and quickly went to put the spaghetti, then I lifted the lid and completely forgot that I had left a frying pan on. It had occurred to me to make some fries as a side dish.
When I lifted the lid of the pot, the steam caused a lot of water to concentrate in it and it all fell into the pan, which was also very hot.
The flame that formed was huge, it reached the ceiling and I was not prepared for that. I was too irresponsible, I admit it, but I managed to throw myself backwards. That's how I kept the fire from reaching my face,
although it burned a part of me that I later realized.
Thank goodness there were no scars as it was superficial, but the skin of the nipple is delicate. For obvious reasons I can not show pictures 🤣.
The next thing I did was to turn off the stove and turn off the gas, by that time my memory recalled that I had heard somewhere that to put it out I had to cover it with a dry cover so that the fire would consume the oxygen and extinguish itself.
Indeed, that is what happened and I was completely exhausted and also scared, even my hunger went away 😅.
Then with the days reading articles about how these types of accidents are more common than I thought, this is what not to do in these events. Good thing my crazy head didn't add more water, as I thought if a little water from the pot did such an effect on the hot oil. I can only imagine how much more it will make adding a bucket 😩🔥.
Never throw water on the fire, this will only cause it to spread. The flames that come out are enormous, as if you add fuel to it.
Neither flour, since the only powder that could be effective, is baking soda. But no one has such exorbitant amounts at home.
Do not move the pot to another place. I thought about doing it, but it is supposed to fall or spread the fire to other flammable materials.
Well, up to here my story number 1, although as you can understand the least I had in mind at that moment was to take some pictures. When unforeseen events of this type happen to me or what I will write about in story number two, I never take pictures. Besides, this happened at a time when I was having a lot of personal problems.

As I mentioned above, I was going through some personal problems, which had me quite depressed. That's why a friend wanted to help me, to distract me a little.
There was a vegan restaurant I had been wanting to go to for a long time, since everyone in my circle was raving about it.
So he invited me and the next thing that happened made me feel so many mixed feelings that I think it somehow helped me to react about my life. Although the subject in question had nothing to do with what was happening to me, but you know human emotions are strange and suddenly you react out of nowhere. As if something clicks inside you.
Well, following the story, when we arrived at the restaurant everything seemed pretty good. The waiters were very cordial to us and the decor was kind of jungle-like. I wanted to order a "gluten free Poke Bowls for lunch, which consisted of real quinoa, red beans, cucumber, avocado, marinated tofu, bell bell pepper, red onion, curry sauce and mango.
So far so excellent, but when I tasted the first bite I felt something hard to chew, with a slimy texture and what was my surprise when I looked..... Total disgust!!! 🤮
A small chrysalis, which I chewed and broke in half the caterpillar inside.
I felt disgust and of course full of rage, to then give way to empathy for that little animal and that infuriated me even more.
I asked to speak to the manager, who was very embarrassed. My friend was trying to calm me down, but I was determined to make everyone realize what kind of negligent restaurant he was. He apologized to me, that he didn't know how that happened. Especially since they are always so careful about cleanliness. He showed me the kitchen, which I really must admit, looked immaculately clean. Still, I told him that he would hear from me, that I would file a complaint and that I would also talk about what happened on social media. All the customers looked at me in surprise when I told them that on top of that they made me kill a small animal, which is quite contradictory for a "vegan" restaurant.
Suddenly, in the middle of all the employees, the waiter who served us appeared and in a hesitant voice told us the following:
—It's all my fault, not the restaurant's, I'm sorry. I should have changed the dish for another one, but I tripped and unintentionally went on to take a plant from the decoration.
Turns out the idiot almost fell and when he got up, he moved my plate of Poke Bowls closer to the plants. Most likely they had some caterpillar infestation and hadn't noticed.
They apologized for the bad timing and reassured me. It was an accident after all, but I told them they should be careful anyway.
Funny thing is that over the years it has become one of my favorite restaurants XD.
Some of you may not be so disgusted by it, but I'm very careful about such things. If there's any hair in my food, even if it's mine, I'd rather throw it all away.
