There's something warm and comforting about preparing a home-cooked meal, especially when cooking for the family. I am not good in the kitchen yet, but I am always looking forward to recipes as simple and delicious as carbonara. The other day, I found myself craving something creamy, and luckily, I saw the leftover Fiesta Creamy Carbonara from the Christmas gift pack given to us. I checked the fridge for the ingredients I would need, and I got them all. I just added a can of Century Tuna since we don't have it.
As I prepared the ingredients, the excitement of cooking something for the whole family started kicking in. I found myself smiling and excited while peeling and slicing some onions and garlic. Then, I sliced the ham into tiny pieces. After slicing, I also set aside the tuna before cooking it together with the rest of the ingredients.
With everything ready, it was time to get cooking. I heated a portion of oil in a pan, then put in the garlic and onions. I let them cook, and when the aroma was all over the kitchen, I put in the ham and tuna too. Again, I am not that good in the kitchen, and I want to cook my cravings my way. The aroma of the ham and tuna intensified, and I could feel the flavors coming together as I mixed them.
While cooking the ingredients for the sauce, I heated a pot of water for the noodles. I prepared the pasta and put it in the boiling water to be cooked perfectly. I added a few drops of cooking oil, so the pasta will not stick together. I got the idea from my Mama, and I have been doing it ever since I started cooking pasta recipes.
I continued cooking, and I put the creamy sauce in the pan, and I know that this is the heart of the recipe. I put the Nestle cream for extra creaminess, then some cheese cubes. I mixed them altogether as it thickened and wrapped around the other ingredients. Everyone was checking what I was cooking when they smelled the creamy sauce.
As I checked the noodles, the texture was already perfect, so I drained the little water left. When the sauce was ready, I added it to the drained pasta. I needed to make sure that every pasta strand would be covered by the creamy sauce, so I started tossing everything together. Tossing the pasta helps the sauce cling evenly to each strand, creating a more flavorful and satisfying dish. The balance of creaminess and delicious taste made this a satisfying meal. Everyone got their own plates and started trying my home-cooked version of carbonara. Even though it does not look as fancy as those being served by restaurants, I love the fact that everyone enjoyed it!
