‘Buzz buzz buzz’
This was the fifth time that phone had rang, who in their right senses calls someone at such an ungodly hour of the night, it's pass 1 for heaven sake!.
But Grayson knew who it was, after all every human has the right to ignore a phone call if they don't feel the need to call, and maybe_ just maybe that person would get the message but not Benjamin, he was a total idiot when it boils down to getting clues. Sometimes Grayson thought some basic life knowledge Benjamin was too fragile to handle because he was always clueless.
And one of those things was that you can't just pick up your phone and start bothering another adult in the middle of the night knowing they have just 5 to 3 hours sleep before morning dawn. Grayson growled out loud the last time before answering the call.
His guts just told him it wasn't something serious, “Gray, why would you pick my calls, you don't know how much stress I have been through today” Grayson sighs. Here we go again, he felt Benjamin got into the wrong body and gender, even his Mom wasn't so dramatic like this dude on the other end of the phone.
“What. is. the. problem. Ben-j” Grayson made sure to communicate his frustration in every word.
“You won't believe what happened, I feel so empty right now.”
“Did your grandma die?, because that would only be a justified reason for waking me up in such early hours of the morning.”
“Far from that my cat ran away and me and puddin have been so lonely, waiting for her to come back, and it's taking a worst turn for puddin because I'm traveling to my hometown to see my sick granny, and his nanny isn't around either,” paused from the other end of the phone. “So I was thinking, just for a few days_ if you could eh.”
“I absolutely don't like where this whole conversation is going, Benjamin.” Grayson said.
“It's just for a few days, so Puddin won't die of hunger or run away like Lucy did.” Puddin was actually Benjamin's dog, while Lucy was the cat, of course the cat would run away with how Benjamin clung to the poor creature. And Benjamin knew how much he hated pets, yes they are cute from afar but immediately they get home they are a full time mess, shitting anywhere and everywhere as they please. And nothing makes Grayson more anxious and agitated than seeing the smallest of dirt in his comfort zone.
All through Grayson had lived in constant fear in the past, but now he wasn't that same Grayson Caron, Grayson back then in highschool and college was a chubby fat boy who used to be bullied, and his bullied never had mercy on him even when he developed OCD, a cleanliness discord, he wasn't the type to use the boys toilet or eat lunch in the school dinner or cafeteria, because he had allergies, just the tiniest of food could give him food poisoning, and his bullies, oh his bullies took bullying to the next level, they made sure to use what Grayson hated to punish him, that's why half of his life was spent in the hospital, and you would ask where are his parents?, well his father wasn't the best Dad after Grayson's Mom died from cancer, he jumped of a bridge after so much intake of alcohol. So Grayson was left with his very old grandma who passed away a few years after he got into college, though his family left behind a huge amount of money, that could never change the traumatized experience he went through as a kid.
Benjamin found him in his lowest moments in life and gave him a hand, Benjamin could be overly dramatic and one of the most sensitive person he had ever seen but he was family, and Grayson could never be more grateful he had such a friend on his case begging him to take a pet he dislike with his whole being.
“C’mon Gray, Puddin won't mess up your house, he's a trained dog.”
“So God help me he does mess up my place, I'm selling your dog how you got him” Grayson sighs already frustrated with this conversation, he runs his fingers on his curly hair.
“You definitely need a man's best friend around your depressed life right now, so I don't mind sharing Puddin at a low cost to you of course, I will be back like I never left, please.” Benjamin pleaded, trying to convince his best friend.
Another sigh was heard from Grayson's side of the phone. “A dog is far from what I need right now, but if only you're not going to stay for more 3 days, that's the least I could do for your dimmed arse” Grayson adjust himself on the bed while he rubs the sleep from his eyes, he was still very tired from the previous day work and he had more on his plates, so agreeing to Benjamin would save his the stress of arguing and not sleeping, because he knew Benjamin he would not give up with his calls.
Grayson lived a very disciplined lifestyle, he didn't go out if it wasn't business related, he rarely shook hands with people, and hated body contact. Benjamin said he was going to die single because of that lifestyle, cause how do you do the do with your spouse, if you hate people touching you, far from that how do you get into a relationship if you hate people in your personal space, Grayson learnt he had zero tolerance when it comes to people that's why he works from home even, Benjamin calls him a clean freak with a working disorder, because who in their right minds prefer to work 24/7 at home without stepping out to feel the sun, and then paints everything in their house white, that's not as worst as you coming into Grayson's house for the first time, you have to sanitize your entire life before Grayson let you in, as if sanitizing your hands and legs where not enough, you need to brush too, Grayson took it upon himself to leave a full pack of new toothbrush and toothpaste every week just Incase a visitor wants to come see him, it was just his rule, you don't do it then you don't come. Simple.
But of course this rules don't apply to Benjamin, only Benjamin could walk into his house and leave a note saying; I would be gone for a week, make sure you take care of my baby, he's a human dog so he can hear when you curse, so don't use words like “Fu¢k, $hit-head, arseh0l£.” Puddin would be offended if you do. Plus just show him where he would do his business, he's smart enough to know, and Do not sell my dog.
Love Ben-j.
Grayson looked down at the dog, he had only seen this dog when he was still a pup, but now he was a big dog, he made himself comfortable on the couch, sleeping soundly. Because of Grayson OCD and hate for pets, Benjamin didn't bring pets over. Puddin was a husky, with rare eye condition, his was a mixture of white and light brown. He was indeed a beautiful dog.
Like the dog knew someone was staring at him, his eyes suddenly opens while his tail wiggles in excited, he looked at Grayson with some sort of expectancy but since Grayson doesn't get dog signs when they want affection, he ignored it but before he could turn around to go start his usual morning routine, Puddin jumped on him licking on his face like he was his favorite meal.
“Ugh!, stop licking me,” but the tongue never stopped coming and that made him laugh, he had never had a dog licked him before, at least not one he could remember. He laughed so hard and didn't notice when he was lying on the floor.
“Okay, okay, I get it, I get it now,” he continues to laugh while he pats the big boy's head. “Good boy. You did well.” like Puddin understood and barked back, his tail moving here and there to show his excitement.
Maybe it won't be so bad having to house Puddin for a while, he thought looking at the dog, still patting his head, the dog looked super neat, and his breath wasn't bad. Maybe just maybe having a dog pet wasn't all that bad.
“Let's just hope your Daddy is willing to sell you to me cause I'd buy you.” Grayson smiled and got up. “C’mon boy, let's have a fun week just you and me.” Puddin barked in response. “Yeah I know, we are going to have a lot of fun.”
Having puddin over didn't cure his OCD, but helped him at least get over his hate for pets.
