Hi @frost77. Please don't be discouraged. If you love to write, you should be able to find a place in The Ink Well. Many have, who started out here writing very bloody, violent stuff.
Think about it this way. We aim to have a presence and audience like a professional publication. No professional publication publishes everything under the sun, from sci-fi to romance and historic fiction to stories that describe bloody guts and flayed human remains. Does that make sense? We like to say, "If you wouldn't show it to a young child, your grandmother or someone with PTSD, it doesn't belong in The Ink Well." So — no brutality, gore, rape, murder, torture or extreme violence.
With those exceptions, that leaves the options wide open.
We provide a lot of support to our writers, including an entire catalog of fiction writing tips, feedback on posted stories, weekly story prompts and lists of story ideas. You can see our most recent prompt here, and it lists all of the past prompts. And here are three posts we've published with 50 story ideas each — a total fo 150 story starters:
50 Loglines
50 Story Ideas
50 Imagination Ticklers
Now, that said, if your personal desire is to write about people being shot, stabbed or dismembered, then you should find the right place for your work. It's easy to create a new community, I believe. Just go to the Communities tab, select All Communities, and then click the + sign and fill out the form. Good luck!
