Hubby and I took a day trip to one of our favorite small towns — Stillwater, Minnesota — a quaint town on the St. Croix River, which divides Minnesota and Wisconsin.
We took the same hike we took when we were there for our anniversary in the fall. It’s about 3.5 miles. You start by walking across a footbridge to Wisconsin, then the path winds through some farmland and prairie and then takes you back over a big high-traffic bridge back to Minnesota.
Now I sometimes wonder what the difference is between a walk and a hike. But when you start out on this particular trail, it’s definitely a “hike” because you climb up a steep hill before it levels off and then you’re in farmland. Then it’s more of a walk.
The view of the river is quite pretty from the big bridge. There’s a very nice marina in the Minnesota side, and it’s clear the boats and yachts are being prepared for the warm season.
Back in Stillwater, there’s about 3/4 of a mile to go from the bridge to get back into town, and the path is right along the river, where
you can see various boats, as well as paddle wheelers preparing for the huge number of tourists that will arrive in the summer.
We really enjoyed the walk and the fresh air!
Back in town, got dinner at a yummy dinner at a place called Brick and Bourbon.
I had a cocktail called a Lavender Mule, which was infused with lavender and garnished with an orchid.
After dinner we strolled a bit more before heading for home. There was a guy out on the street entertaining children with a bubble wand that made enormous bubbles.
That was my day. Thanks for visiting!
