Tonight we walked out our favorite trail to our favorite destination - a marina on a lake. I love to see the evening sky reflected on the water - which differs dramatically depending on the cloud cover, the time of day and time of year. (Well, in winter everything is frozen!)
Let’s have a look at what there was to see on this particular excursion. As I hinted in the title, you will get to see some fledgling swallows!
The water at the marina was steel gray, offsetting a glowing sky.
There was still plenty of daylight, but the sky was threatening to storm, and this created some intense contrasts.
I love to walk down to the docks and take pictures from multiple angles.
There are always swallows swooping every which way around the bridge and the docks, catching bugs. I don’t remember ever seeing them sit still until tonight!
But then I saw these three adorable fledglings, huddled together on a chain, and I was so excited.
I kept closing in and snapping pictures, trying not to interfere, as I think they were getting a flying lesson from mom and dad! They sat watching just scross the pathway.
I stepped away to avoid stressing them too much, but I was thrilled to have seen them up close!
Then it was time for the return walk.
