Today I got most of my steps by shopping. I know people who start shopping on Thanksgiving night and shop all night long. But I am just not that type.
I do like to get out and take advantage of the deals, though because a lot of stores have 40-50% off of everything just for that day. So I at least try to get out early and check off some of the expensive items!
I also love Black Friday as the launch of the holidays. The malls are festive and there's holiday music playing.
I got a lot done between 8 am and noon, and then in the afternoon my sister and I went to a ahow in the city -- a sing-along version of The Sound of Music.
Oh my gosh it was fun! They started out by inviting everyone up to the stage who was in some kind of costume. People were dressed as Maria, Mother Superior, girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, etc.
I have to say, it had a rather profound effect on me. Wonderful music always does, but in addition to that, it was so familiar and sweet, and over 600 people singing together like an enormous chorale is very moving.
Well if you love music and love to sing, and if you get an opportunity to do something like this, I highly recommend it!
I have heard of other theaters in the Minneapolis area that do the same thing with various musicals. I'm going to check them out!
