Every year I try to lose a few pounds over the holidays. I know it sounds impossible — especially with the feasting and all the treats that tend to appear out of nowhere.
But if you really don’t want to put on weight, I promise there are ways to avoid it.
That last one is key. Carbs tend to turn to sugars which are stored as fat and mess up our metabolism and blood sugar. I’m personally not a purist and I think a certain amount of carbs are okay. But if you’re the kind of person who wants more more more once you have a little, then you might want to go cold turkey.
For me, breakfast is probably the most important meal. If I eat carbs and don’t get protein, I will be nibbling and snacking all day.
One of my favorite breakfasts is a breakfast frittata that I make in the microwave. I thought made this up! But I actually just found a recipe in Delish.

I just throw together some eggs, a few veggies, and sometimes some meat (turkey or ham sandwich meat works great) and maybe some cheese. It doesn’t really matter.
And it’s super easy! Just spray a microwave safe bowl and then add all your ingredients and scramble it with a fork. Then microwave it for about two minutes. Once it’s done, you can’t eat it as is, maybe with a bit of salt and pepper, or you can add toppings like sliced avocado or salsa.
Maybe you don’t have a goal to lose weight over the holidays, but I promise you that you will feel much better at the end of it all if you focus on being as healthy as possible, not over-indulging in food and treats, and making sure you get plenty of exercise.
