Lead yourself. That's where it all starts. Besides, if you wouldn't follow yourself, why should anyone else?
We often think that self leadership is about making those decisions every day, when the reality is that we need to make a few critical decisions in major areas of life and then manage those decisions day to day.
Here is an example of i mean. Have you ever made a New year resolution to exercise? Making a decision to do it isn't that hard, but managing that decision and Follow through is much more difficult.
A lot of people are afraid to lead because of what others will say when they make a bad decision. At one point in your life you will be call upon to lead. What will you do then??
Here are six ways you can learn to train yourself to be a great leader
Manage Your Emotions
It's important for everyone to manage emotions. Nobody likes to spend time around an emotional time bomb who may go off at any moment. A good leader knows when to display emotions and when to delay them. Sometimes they show them so that people can feel what they are feeling.
Make Use Of Your Time
Time management is a really tough issue especially for any leader.
Time is valuable. Until you value yourself you won't value your time. Until you value your time, you will not do anything with it
Manage Your Energy
A lot of leaders go through stress at work. And they find the right time to ration their energy so that they don't run out. Even people with high energy can have that energy sucked right out of them under difficult circumstances. Take things easy. Slow and steady wins the race.
Manage Your Personal Life
You can do everything great at work and manage your life well there, but if your personal life is a mess, it eventually turn everything else sour.
If i can't lead myself, others won't follow me
If i can't lead myself, other won't respect me.
If i can't lead myself, others won't partner with me.
Dress To Influence
Don't dress to impress, dress to influence. It is important that you make sure your appearance is consistent with your personal and professional brand. Begin by asking yourself how a leader with your aspirations should appear to others.
Keep To Your Words.
It is important you keep to your words. But never make promises you're not sure you can keep. Failed promises will kill your credibility quicker.
Nothing would get done at all if a man waited until he could do something so well that no one could find fault with it. - John Henry Cardinal Newman
